BAYA VERDE

Baya Verde is an ultraripening onion scallion variety developed by the Dutch seed company Seminis. This variety is characterized by a very early maturity period of about 40 days, allowing for fresh greens to be obtained almost year-round. Baya Verde is actively grown in open ground from early spring to late autumn, and is also successfully cultivated in closed ground and under film coverings, which expands its usage possibilities under various climatic conditions.

The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and a strong root system, which ensures rapid regrowth after cutting. The leaves of Baya Verde are erect, dark green, 25-27 cm in height, with a scape length of 9-10 cm. The scallion forms extra quality with a soft taste and high tolerance to bulb formation. Due to its features, the variety shows increased resistance to Fusarium and pink root rot, as well as to heat, drought, and low temperatures.

Baya Verde is a cross between bulb onion and bunching onion, which allows obtaining scallions significantly earlier than traditional bunching onions. This makes it an ideal choice for obtaining super-early green scallion products. The variety is recommended for growing throughout Ukraine and Moldova, ensuring a stable and quality crop of greens throughout the year, including the winter period in protected ground.
