Red Rum F1

Red Rum F1 is a medium-early hybrid salad-type red onion, developed by the Dutch breeding company Bejo Zaden. This variety is intended for cultivation in open ground and is characterized by high adaptability, allowing successful cultivation on various soil types and in different climatic conditions. The vegetative period is approximately 112 days from emergence of seedlings, after which round bulbs weighing from 150 to 300 grams are formed. The plants are strong and resilient, well-tolerating drought and lack of irrigation, making them resistant to adverse weather conditions.

The bulbs of Red Rum F1 have a rich burgundy-purple color on the outer scales, which are dense and easy to clean. The inner scales are fleshy, crisp, red-purple in color with light veins. The variety is distinguished by a pleasant sweet taste and pronounced aroma, making it ideal for fresh consumption and culinary use. The onion is well-transported and retains its quality and nutritional value for several months, allowing it to be used both for fresh marketing and for short-term storage.

Red Rum F1 has high resistance to diseases, including fusarium and pink rot, which increases harvest reliability. The content of dry matter in the bulbs is approximately 11.3%, contributing to good taste and long-term storage. The hybrid forms up to 7 scales and is suitable for direct sowing in open ground, as well as for cultivation through seedlings. The recommended planting density is approximately one million plants per hectare.
