Baja Verde

Baja Verde PS onion is an ultra-early onion variety for green tops, developed by the Dutch seed company Seminis. This variety is a cross between bulb onion and bunching onion, ensuring very early green top formation — as early as 40 days after sowing. The plant is robust, with upright, deep green leaves 25-27 cm long and a stem 9-10 cm long, which allows for extra-quality green tops. Due to its characteristics, Baja Verde PS is ideal for year-round fresh green onion production. The variety is highly resistant to diseases such as Fusarium and root rot, and shows increased tolerance to heat, drought, and low temperatures. This makes it a reliable choice for cultivation in various climatic conditions. The onion quickly recovers after cutting, ensuring a steady and prolonged harvest of greens. Baja Verde PS is recommended for cultivation both in open ground from early spring to late autumn, and in protected ground during winter, including under plastic coverings. It is successfully grown throughout Ukraine and Moldova, enabling the production of super-early green onion for fresh use.
