The spring oat variety «ZALP» is a medium-maturing and medium-height variety developed through stepwise hybridization involving the best foreign varieties, such as Patneem 61 (USA), Serbo (Sweden), Endsprut (FRG), Tiger (Germany), and K-12018 (VIR). The plant is characterized by a semi-erect bush with a two-sided awn and semi-elevated branch placement. The grain is white-grained, awnless, of medium to large size, with a 1000-seed mass of 33-41 g. The vegetation period is 69-90 days, corresponding to a medium-maturing maturity period.
The variety «ZALP» is distinguished by high stable yield, with an average indicator reaching 44.7 c/ha, which significantly exceeds the yield of standard varieties. Maximum yield can reach 72.6 c/ha. It is resistant to lodging and seed shattering, has strong straw, which contributes to crop preservation. The drought resistance of the variety is at the level of standard varieties Kreschet and Bulanoy, which makes it suitable for cultivation using intensive technology.
In addition, the variety «ZALP» shows high resistance to powdery head smut and weak susceptibility to crown rust. Resistance to bacterial burns and reddish-brown blotch is assessed as average. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Northwestern, Central, and Volga-Vyatsk regions, which confirms its adaptability to various climatic conditions.
