Demetra buckwheat is a high-quality grain crop widely used in the food industry and dietary nutrition due to its beneficial properties. This herbaceous plant, reaching up to 100 cm in height and flowering with small white-pink inflorescences, boasts a rich composition: the grain contains iron, calcium, iodine, zinc, phosphorus, and B vitamins. Buckwheat is not only a valuable food product but also an effective nectar-producing crop, while its straw serves as an excellent organic fertilizer. The origin of buckwheat is considered to be Northern India, with Ukraine holding a leading position in its cultivation. The Demetra variety is distinguished by its high yield and resistance to adverse environmental conditions. It exhibits resilience to early frosts, high temperatures, and drought, making it a reliable choice for farmers. This variety of buckwheat possesses high resistance to diseases, particularly ascochitis, as well as to pests. Furthermore, the variety is characterized by determinancy, which ensures stable ripening and minimizes yield losses due to shedding and lodging of plants. The technological and culinary qualities of the Demetra variety are at a high level: the mass of 1000 grains is 30-36 grams, the flour yield reaches 75.5%, and the whole grain yield is 68.1%. These indicators make the variety in demand among producers and consumers. Due to its properties, Demetra buckwheat is suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions and ensures a stable and high-quality yield, confirming its inclusion in the list of valuable and high-quality varieties.
