Oat (Avena sativa L.) is an annual grass with upright stems up to 150 cm tall. The stems are smooth, striped, with bare nodes and hollow internodes, branching at the lower part. The oat grain is up to 8 mm long. Flowering occurs from June to August, and ripening — from July to September. Oat is widely cultivated as a fodder and cereal crop throughout Ukraine. For medicinal purposes, unprocessed grain, groats, flour, straw, and oat grass are used. Grass is harvested during the milky ripening stage, when pressing the grain releases a white cream-like substance, which occurs at the end of July to early August. Straw is collected during harvest. Oat grass has no odor, and its taste, as well as that of the grains, is slightly sweet and starchy. For sowing, the seeding rate is 2 kg per 100 square meters. Due to its nutritional and medicinal properties, oat BRISTOL is a valuable agricultural product used both as animal feed and in food and medical industries.
