Spring barley variety SIG® is a high-yielding, mid-season grain variety designed for cultivation under various climatic conditions, including Taiga, sub-Taiga, Northern forest-steppe zones, as well as the Western and Eastern Siberia and Far East regions. The plant is of medium height with a two-sided awn and large grains, contributing to high yield and grain quality. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 34 to 43 grams, and the grain specific weight is 430-520 g/l, indicating the density and commercial quality of the product.
The variety is characterized by high resistance to diseases such as loose and covered smut, ensuring crop stability. However, it exhibits low susceptibility to crown rust, red-brown blotch, and bacterial burn, requiring attention during agro-technical measures. Barley SIG® also has moderate drought tolerance, allowing its cultivation in various climatic zones with moderate humidity levels.
The grain of the SIG® barley variety is distinguished by its high protein content — from 10.6 to 13.4%, making it valuable for both fodder purposes and flour production. Due to its quality characteristics and adaptability, the variety is recommended for use in the seed material of agro-industrial complexes and farmer households, ensuring a stable and high-quality barley crop.
