Description IRTYSH 21
IRTYSH 21 is a medium-maturing variety of spring oats (Avena sativa L.) of the hulled type, characterized by high productivity and good grain quality. This variety features large grains weighing between 35 and 44 grams per 1000 grains, ensuring a high grain yield ranging from 57.3% to 61.4%. Protein content reaches 10.7%, fat content 4.59%, and starch content 45.2%, making it valuable for both food and feed purposes. IRTYSH 21 is noted for its plasticity and responsiveness to soil fertility improvements, contributing to stable yields.

The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Ural, West Siberian, and East Siberian regions. In the Irkutsk region, it is used for both grain production and green feed. Yield varies depending on the region and growing conditions: average yield is about 24.4–32 centners/ha, while maximum yield can reach 64.1 centners/ha. According to the breeder, IRTYSH 21 exhibits resistance to powdery scab and crown rust, although in some conditions, it may show susceptibility to bacterial burn and smut diseases.

In terms of morphological characteristics, the variety is medium-height with above-average lodging resistance, which facilitates harvesting and reduces yield losses. The thin-hulled grain type and high productivity make IRTYSH 21 a sought-after variety for agricultural production, ensuring a balance between product quality and quantity. Due to its properties, it is included in the state register and recognized as a valuable variety for cultivation in various climatic zones.
