Description KIROVSKIY 2
KIROVSKIY 2 is a mid-late variety of spring oats (Avena sativa L.) of naked type, distinguished by its high grain quality characteristics. The plant is of medium height, with a vegetative period ranging from 78 to 92 days, and is resistant to lodging and drought at a medium standard level. The mass of 1000 grains is 26-32 grams, the grain is of medium size, and the grain purity varies from 570 to 680 g/l. The panicle is two-sided with semi-upright branch arrangement, spikelets are drooping, the glume is long with a strong waxy coating, which provides additional protection to the grain. Awniness is absent or very weak in this variety.

The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Central, Volga-Vyatsky, and Central Black Earth regions. The average yield in these zones reaches 23.5 c/ha, while under optimal conditions it can reach 47.6 c/ha, as recorded in the Sverdlovsk region. The protein content in the grain ranges from 14.9-16.5%, which makes this oat valuable for various purposes. However, the variety is susceptible to bacterial blight and is strongly affected by powdery mildew and crown rust, which requires careful care and plant protection.

For successful cultivation of KIROVSKIY 2, it is necessary to ensure timely spring sowing, soil treatment, and maintaining adequate moisture levels, as drought significantly reduces yield. An important aspect is the application of fertilizers, especially potash and phosphate rock flour, as well as observing crop rotation considering the preceding crops. Crop care involves harrowing and protection from pests. Oats of this variety can be used for grain production, green fodder, or silage, making it a versatile agricultural crop.
