Description
Field pea variety DONSКОЙ FORAGE® is a forage crop intended for cultivation in agriculture to obtain high-quality forage raw materials. This medium-maturing variety is distinguished by high yield and good seed quality, making it in demand for feeding animals. The vegetative period ranges from 72 to 81 days, and plant height varies from 37 to 80 cm, which ensures convenience for agricultural care and harvest collection.
The variety is characterized by a leafless type, with a large number of nodes before the first fertile node and well-developed stipules. The maximum number of flowers per node reaches two, and the sail coloration varies from white to cream. Pods have a weakly curved shape with a blunt top; seeds are round with green cotyledons and a light hilum. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 210 to 253 grams, and protein content in the grain is within 21-24%, ensuring high nutritional value of the forage.
DONSКОЙ FORAGE has medium drought resistance, high resistance to lodging and shattering, which contributes to stable yield. However, the variety is susceptible to ascochitis of pods and seeds, and is highly susceptible to root rots, which requires a careful approach to plant protection. The maximum yield in the Volgograd region reached 29.2 centners/hectare, exceeding the average indicators of standard varieties. The variety is recommended for cultivation in regions with similar climatic conditions, providing a reliable and quality forage product.
