Spring oat variety DRAGUN is a mid-late maturing and medium-height variety with plant height ranging from 66 to 117 cm. It is characterized by strong, hollow straw of medium thickness, which ensures high resistance to lodging. The panicle is semi-unilateral, of medium length with semi-raised horizontal branch arrangement, and the ears are drooping. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 25 to 50 grams, and grain natural density ranges from 385 to 587 g/l. The variety belongs to the arista type and features a medium vegetative period of 71 to 112 days, making it suitable for various climatic conditions in Russia. DRAGUN is distinguished by high yield and grain quality. Average yield in various regions ranges from 17.9 centners per hectare in the Urals to 47.4 centners per hectare in the Central Black Earth region, with maximum yields reaching 71.4 centners per hectare. Protein content in the grain reaches 15%, making it valuable for feed and food purposes. The variety exhibits high drought resistance and ecological plasticity, allowing it to maintain productivity even in unfavorable conditions. The DRAGUN variety possesses resistance to lodging and various diseases, including root rots, powdery mildew, rust, and septoria, although it is susceptible to loose smut. Thanks to its characteristics, it is widely used in Russian agriculture, providing stable and quality oat harvests. The variety was obtained by individual selection from a hybrid population involving foreign and domestic breeding lines, which confirms its high breeding value.
