MISCANTHUS CARVER – a perennial ornamental grass, distinguished by its tall height and expressive spikelet ball shape. The plant reaches a height of 50 to 170 cm depending on the variety, with sturdy stems that are stable against the weight of the flower heads, creating a characteristic spherical structure.
CARVER leaves are characterized by a narrow, linear shape with an elegant curve. They are dark green in color, often shimmering with a silver sheen, and during dry periods the tips may dry out and turn golden-brown without losing the overall decorative appearance. The leaf surface is rough and hard, giving the plant resilience to unfavorable conditions.
In August, lush spikelets appear, which initially have a reddish-brown hue, gradually transitioning to silver. Dried stalks retain their decorative quality and can be used for dried bouquets. The plant prefers sunny areas with fertile, moist soil; in shade, flowering becomes less abundant.
CARVER tolerates cold temperatures well – it can withstand a drop to -35 °C and overwinters in open ground without covering. To protect young plants from cold, mulching or dry covering is recommended. The plant does not require frequent watering, but when grown in containers, moderate moisture should be maintained during summer and stored in a cool, light place during winter.
For planting, leave a distance of 60–80 cm between seedlings to ensure free development of the spikelet ball. The plant is easily reproduced by bush division and does not show aggressive growth.
