Chickling vetch SLAVYANKA

A Legacy of Selective Breeding

The 'Slavyanka' variety of spring vetchling (Lathyrus vernus) is a significant achievement of the Federal Scientific Center for Legumes and Grops. Developed as a robust forage crop, it has earned a reputation for reliability, consistency, and resilience within the Russian agricultural sector.

Key Agronomic Traits

Unlike many other legume varieties that require precise and intensive care, 'Slavyanka' is valued for its plasticity and ability to thrive in various soil profiles. Key characteristics include:

• Type: Grain-forage variety adapted for efficient farming.
• Resilience: High resistance to lodging and seed shattering, which simplifies the harvesting process significantly.
• Nutritional Value: The crop is a dense source of vegetable protein, making it an essential ingredient for high-quality animal feed formulation.

Market Position and Utility

In the contemporary agricultural market, 'Slavyanka' is often chosen by farms looking to optimize their forage production cycles. Its ability to enrich the soil with nitrogen naturally makes it an excellent crop for rotation, providing a significant advantage for subsequent cereal plantings.

For producers, the choice of this variety translates into a balance between yield stability and operational efficiency. By selecting 'Slavyanka,' agricultural enterprises can secure a predictable supply of high-protein feed while maintaining the health and fertility of their fields, solidifying its place as a staple in sustainable livestock production strategies.
