Mulberry WHITE NIGHT

Genetic Potential and Fruiting Characteristics

The «Belaya Noch» (White Night) mulberry is the result of breeding work by the Russian State Agrarian University – Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. The variety is based on an in-depth study of the species' biological traits, focusing on climatic adaptation while maintaining high yield potential. A key feature of this variety lies in the specific color of its fruits: despite the name, the berries have a distinct pink hue, which differentiates them from standard black or pure white cultivars.

Agrotechnical Value

The Timiryazev school of breeding emphasizes not only productivity but also pathogen resistance, making this variety highly valued by growers focused on sustainable production. The fruits have a firm texture, which is critical for fresh market logistics. From a technical standpoint, the variety is optimized for two primary use cases:

• Fresh Market: A balanced sugar-to-acid ratio ensures superior organoleptic qualities when consumed fresh.
• Industrial Processing: High pectin content allows for the production of jams and juices while maintaining the structural integrity of the raw material after thermal processing.

The decorative potential of the tree allows for its integration into both commercial orchards and landscape projects that require a combination of aesthetic canopy appeal and functional fruit yield.
