MEDICINAL MINT 4

Medicinal mint is a perennial shrub growing up to 40-50 cm tall, belonging to the labiate family. It has a creeping root system, an upright square stem that branches strongly with horizontal shoots. The leaves are oblong, deep green in color, emitting a characteristic menthol aroma.

The plant blooms from July to September, during which time its delicate flowers decorate the area and enhance the aromatic component. For medicinal purposes, the aerial part of mint is used – leaves and stems containing essential oils, flavonoids, and carotene. Thanks to these components, mint is included in infusions, drops, teas, and herbal mixtures used for respiratory system diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, liver problems, migraines, neuralgia, cardiovascular disorders, and high blood pressure.

Mint is easy to grow both in open ground and in a pot on a windowsill. Care requirements are moderate: regular but not excessive watering, absence of prolonged water stagnation, and good tolerance to slight drought. Due to its aroma and antiseptic properties, the plant is also widely used in cookery and cosmetic products.
