Mint – a popular spice-aromatic and medicinal plant that is easy to grow at home. Common Shandra or horse mint reaches a height of up to 60 cm. The stem is hollow, rigid and heavily hairy, while the leaves are round-egg-shaped, up to 3.5 cm long, with a serrated edge – densely hairy underneath and sparsely hairy on top. The plant has high aromaticity.
It flowers with white and pink whorls from June to September. Due to its taste and smell, mint is widely used in cooking: added to teas, infusions, fruit salads, desserts, and drinks. It is also used in aromatherapy and as a medicinal remedy.
Mint adapts easily to different growing conditions, preferring sunny places with moderate watering. With proper care, the plant grows quickly and provides a rich harvest of leaves that can be used fresh or dried for later use.
