Mint is a perennial aromatic shrub up to 40 cm tall with bright green leaves covered in soft pubescence. The leaves have a rich menthol scent, which intensifies throughout the season, making the plant popular as an addition to desserts, sauces, teas, and cold beverages.
Cultivated varieties, such as Spearmint and «Chocolate», are characterized by high menthol, vitamin C, and other beneficial substances content. They are used not only in cooking but also in folk medicine: fresh leaves help relieve spasms, while dried crushed herb is used when preparing fish and meat dishes.
Mint grows quickly and easily forms dense bushes, making it ideal for decorating flower beds, paths, and tea compositions. The flowers are small, light lilac (or lilac-lavender in the case of the «Chocolate» variety), gathered in dense racemes and bloom from late July to September. Thanks to its aroma and versatility, it is valued both in home gardening and in professional cooking and cosmetology.
