Mint MEDICHA

Stable yields and pharmaceutical-grade aroma

Working with the 'Medichka' mint variety from VILAR, you immediately notice its consistency. This perennial plant transforms a field into a true plantation-grade asset with a powerful, unmistakable menthol scent. The originator, VILAR, engineered high essential oil concentrations into the plant’s genetics, making it an ideal choice for both drying and fresh market distribution.

Operational insights

Mint 'Medichka' is low-maintenance but requires specific soil attention. As a perennial, it overwinters well, though thinning the rhizomes in the second or third year is recommended to prevent density-related quality degradation. The variety is technologically advanced; the stem height allows for mechanized harvesting on industrial scales. The leaves withstand transportation well, resisting sun stress and maintaining their commercial appearance during transit.

• Medicinal use: High menthol content makes the raw material perfect for phytotherapy and tincture production.
• Culinary properties: The leaves provide a clean, bitter-free flavor, which is highly valued by culinary experts and tea blenders.
• Maintenance: Regular irrigation and weed management during the plant's first year are the keys to long-term, stable yields.

For an agronomist, 'Medichka' is a predictable asset. This is not a decorative plant that fades after a month, but a robust crop for business. If you are looking for a variety that offers a stable dry-leaf yield per hectare without demanding excessive inputs, this VILAR-bred cultivar will meet all your production requirements.
