Lavender Airin

Lavender 'Irin': A New Standard in Ukrainian Breeding

Registered in 2023 by the company 'Organic Technologies', the 'Irin' variety is a direct response to the market's demand for high-yield raw materials in the essential oil industry. Unlike many wild or older varieties, 'Irin' demonstrates a clear breeding focus on stability and oil quality.

Key Features and Morphology

The variety is distinguished by its compactness despite the large size of the bush. Strong branching ensures high inflorescence density, which is critical for mechanized harvesting and increasing yield per hectare. Key plant characteristics:

• Flowering: Early flowering allows the plant to avoid peak summer droughts, which is particularly relevant for the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones.
• Appearance: A compact habit and medium plant height make it easy to maintain. The leaves have moderate pubescence and a light green hue, while the lilac flowers are gathered in dense, short inflorescences.
• Raw Material Quality: The main advantage of the variety is its high essential oil content. The linalyl acetate content is at a medium level, making the aroma balanced and highly sought after in perfumery and pharmacology.

Who is this variety for?

'Irin' is a versatile choice for farmers operating in all climatic zones of Ukraine, including Polissia. Due to the absence of anthocyanin coloration in stems and seedlings, the variety possesses a characteristic 'clean' phenotype. It is an ideal option for farmers focusing on industrial essential oil production who are looking for a variety with predictable yields and high cultivation efficiency.
