MOUNTAIN BALSAM

Mountain Balsam is a unique thyme variety developed by Plateonova T.V. As a result of variety trials, plants reach a height of about 27.5 cm and a diameter of approximately 51.5 cm, with stems having an ascending habit, strong branching, and woody sections in the lower part. Leaves are dark green, small (length 8–9 mm, width 2.5–3 mm), opposite, and short-petiolate, with a characteristic anthocyanin tint on the tips and curled edges. The calyx is green, and the corolla is white-lavender, which gives the plant special aesthetic appeal.

The variety is characterized by high yield: on average 97.4 ± 6.1 kg/ha of green mass and 50.0 ± 7.1 kg/ha of essential oil. The mass of fresh raw material contains about 0.513% of essential oil, of which 60% is thymol – the main active component responsible for the plant's aromatic properties.

Mountain Balsam is excellent for culinary purposes as well as in folk medicine. It can be used as a seasoning for dishes, added to hot beverages, or used to make infusions and teas. Due to its high thymol content, the product has a pronounced aroma and beneficial properties, including antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects.
