Description
Mentha "Mechta" is a perennial herbaceous plant, characterized by a delicate mint flavor with subtle apple notes and a pronounced aroma. The leaves have a pointed shape, up to 8 cm long and about 2 cm wide, covered with a short pubescent surface, giving them a distinctive appearance. The stems are straight, quadrangular, branched, reaching a height of approximately one meter, while the horizontally spreading rhizome ensures soil stability and fertility.
Flowering occurs from June to October: pink or pale violet small flowers are gathered in false whorls, forming terminal spike-like inflorescences. The fruits consist of four seeds and rarely set. The internal properties of the plant confirm its value: essential oil content of 3.5%, menthol – 68.8%. The average yield of dry leaves is about 18.8 c/ha.
Mentha "Mechta" is widely used in folk medicine.
