The sorghum variety Pоляно was included in the State Register of Varieties since 2011 and belongs to the flavum (flavum Korn) type. Plants reach a height of 80-100 cm and are characterized by resistance to lodging. The panicle is spreading and drooping, the grain is large and yellow, with a 1000-grain weight of 8.0-8.2 g. The variety is medium-early, with a maturation period of 75-85 days.
Pоляно is distinguished by high yield, exceeding national standards: up to 0.8 t/ha in the Polissia region, 0.43 t/ha in the Forest-Steppe, and 0.45 t/ha in the Steppe. The average productivity of the variety reaches 6.0 t/ha, and according to field trial results of the qualification expert review, the yield in 2009 amounted to 6.1 t/ha. The variety exhibits plasticity and drought resistance, making it adaptable to various climatic conditions.
The milling yield from grain is 78-80%, with a peeling rate of 16.8-17.9%. These indicators attest to the high quality of the grain and its suitability for processing. Due to its characteristics, the Pоляно variety is promising for cultivation in different regions and ensures a stable and high sorghum yield.
