Proso millet Kozatske

Operational Efficiency and Harvest Reliability

Selecting millet varieties is often about finding the balance between yield potential and harvestability. The "Kozatske" variety, developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute, is designed with field operation practicalities in mind. For equipment operators, its standout feature is high lodging resistance. This allows for faster, more efficient harvesting speeds and significantly reduced header losses. Because the stalks remain upright until the final pass of the combine, the need for complex machinery adjustments is kept to a minimum.

Agronomic Value and Protection

Working with the Kozatske variety is highly predictable. Its natural resistance to smut (Ustilago) provides a clear advantage in terms of crop protection. By reducing the reliance on intensive fungicide applications, operators can achieve lower operational costs and fewer field passes. This directly impacts the bottom line of the farm operation.

• Crop type: Common millet.
• Origin: V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute (NAAS).
• Field performance: High resistance to lodging and smut.
• Management: Excellent uniformity, simplifying post-harvest cleaning and storage.

For the agronomist, this variety serves as a "workhorse" that delivers consistent results without requiring deviations from standard agronomic practices. Perfectly adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of Ukraine, it offers a reliable, low-maintenance path to a stable harvest.
