Krestyanka is a medium-late variety of sorghum registered in 1994, with a vegetation period of 75 to 84 days. It is characterized by high yield, which in production conditions reaches 65 centners per hectare. The mass of a thousand grains ranges from 9.1 to 9.6 grams, indicating good grain quality. The variety is resistant to shattering and lodging, and also possesses resistance to powdery head smut of various strains (1, 5, 6), which increases its reliability and stability when growing.
Krestyanka is adapted for cultivation in the Middle Volga region, where it shows good results in terms of yield, reaching 0.2 thousand tons. Thanks to its characteristics, the variety is suitable for growing in conditions requiring resistance to adverse factors and ensuring a stable harvest.
It is important to note that in agriculture, for the control of weeds, including Echinochloa crus-galli (sorghum), herbicides based on clodinafop and haloxyfop-P-ethyl are used. These preparations are effective when treating crops such as sunflower, sugar beet, and soy, which contributes to improving conditions for growing sorghum and other agricultural crops.
