Shallot of the variety "Loving Heart" is a mid-late variety bred by Ural breeders and the Research Institute of Vegetable Selection and Seed Production. It is distinguished by dark green leaf coloration with a slight waxy coating and a length of up to 42 cm. A feature of the variety are brownish-pink bulbs of an unusual heart shape, weighing 50-60 g, which form in a cluster of 7-10 pieces. The number of buds reaches 9-10, and readiness before harvest is 97%. Marketable yield reaches 2.5-2.8 kg per square meter.
The variety is characterized by tight adhesion of dry scales, which ensures increased resistance to pests such as thrips, as well as to bacterial rots during storage. The onion stores well for up to 300 days and has high winter hardiness of up to 94%, making it optimal for autumn planting. Moreover, the variety does not bolt and provides excellent greens for forcing year-round.
Shallot "Loving Heart" is valued for its pleasant aroma and semi-spicy taste, which not only enhances the taste of dishes but also has useful properties that help prevent colds. Due to high yield, good quality, and disease resistance, this variety is suitable for growing in various climatic conditions and is widely used both in cooking and in folk medicine.
