Shallot of the 'Altai Gold' variety is a high-yielding and early-maturing variety, specifically created for growing in Siberia and Western Siberia conditions. The vegetation period from the mass growth of bulbs to harvesting is about 50-52 days, which allows for an early harvest. The average weight of a marketable bulb reaches 30.5 grams, and the shape of the bulbs is round with yellow dry scales and a white fleshy layer.
The variety is characterized by high yield: the marketable yield of bulbs is on average 25.8 tons per hectare, and green onions — 27.3 tons per hectare. The onion has a semi-sharp taste and contains a significant amount of vitamin C in the green leaves — 52.53 mg%. In addition, the dry matter content in bulbs reaches 18.18%, which contributes to good storage and product quality.
Altai Gold is resistant to diseases and is suitable for both home gardeners and professional farmers. This shallot variety is versatile and can be grown in various climatic conditions, ensuring a stable and quality yield for both personal subsidiary farms and commercial farms.
