Onion EMPOLI

Field Performance of the "Empoli" Hybrid

For farm managers looking for a long-term storage solution, the "Empoli" onion hybrid by "Heterozisnaya Selektsiya" offers a reliable balance between yield and durability. As a mid-late hybrid, it thrives under standard intensive management practices, producing uniform, high-quality bulbs with robust skin that stands up well to both harvest machinery and long-term transit.

Storage and Marketability

The primary advantage observed by growers is the exceptional shelf life. Empoli bulbs are designed to last 9–10 months in professional storage facilities. The golden, tight-fitting outer scales act as a natural barrier, significantly reducing decay rates and water loss during the winter months. In practical terms, this means fewer headaches during post-storage sorting and consistently higher premiums at the market.

Agronomic Tips

• Spacing Management: Empoli performs best when provided with adequate space, preventing competition that could limit bulb size.
• Harvest Timing: Proper desiccation is essential to ensure a tight neck closure, which is the secret to its long storage performance.
• Mechanical Compatibility: The firm skin and solid structure make this variety well-suited for mechanical harvesting, maintaining a premium look even after handling.

If your strategy involves late-season sales, Empoli provides the consistency and physical durability needed to keep your inventory in top condition until the new season begins.
