LENITA

Shadblow 'Lenita' is the result of breeding work by the South-Ural Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Potato Breeding, included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 1999. The bush is characterized by strong growth, a semi-spreading form, and a height of 1.3 to 1.8 m. Shoots are thin and curved, leaves are of medium size with a smooth surface, and flowers are pale-colored, opening in May. The crown is dense, which ensures good protection from adverse conditions.

Fruits of the 'Lenita' variety have an elongated-oval shape and a dense blue skin with a bluish bloom. The average berry weight is about 1 g, but individual fruits can weigh up to 1.9 g. The taste is sweet, accompanied by a light refreshing sourness and slight astringency. Sugar content is 7.6%, acids 1.9%, vitamin C 32 mg/100 g, and the content of active compounds of the P-active complex reaches 1150 mg/100 g.

'Lenita' is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to diseases and pests. The yield is up to 27 c/ha, which makes it a high-yielding variety suitable for cultivation in various regions of Russia – from the North to the Ural and Siberian regions. Thanks to its taste qualities and nutritional value, 'Lenita' berries are valued both by farmers and by consumers looking for natural products with high vitamin and antioxidant content.
