Lonicera 'Blue Dessert' – a medium-sized deciduous shrub about 0.7 m tall with a dense crown and straight brownish-red shoots. The bush is not sprawling, leaves are of medium size, green, without veins. Flowers are of medium size, bloom in early spring, and fruits appear in mid-July.
The variety fruits are large, drop-shaped, and blue in color, with thin skin and sweet taste, sometimes slightly sweet and sour. Average weight of one fruit – about 0.8 g, high yield: on average 1.4 kg per bush or 47 c/ha. Fruit bearing begins in the third year after planting.
'Blue Dessert' is distinguished by resistance to diseases, drought, and frost (up to –25 °C), as well as the ability to grow in various climatic regions of Russia: from northern to southern regions. The bush requires the presence of pollinators, but is self-sterile in the presence of suitable helper varieties. It is suitable for both open ground and growing in pots, where seedlings are usually 1/2-year-old and rootstock.
