Description Troitskaya
The Troitskaya strawberry is a large-fruited dessert variety of medium ripening period, obtained by crossing garden strawberry and wild strawberry. The bushes are compact, medium-sized, with dark green glossy leaves and sturdy flower stalks; inflorescences are located below the level of the leaves. Berries are large, dark red with a characteristic gloss; the first fruits can weigh up to 50 g, with an average weight of 23–28 g. The flesh is dense, ensuring good transportability of the berries and allowing them to be used for making compotes and jams without the risk of breaking down. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to diseases and rot. Troitskaya strawberry ripens for the feast of Holy Trinity, which served as the basis for its name. To obtain a maximum yield, a hot summer and intensive watering are required. Yield in film coverings reaches 1.2 kg per bush, and in field conditions one year after planting — 500-600 g per bush. The variety does not tolerate overcrowding and shading, so it requires proper agronomy to maintain plant health and productivity. The berries have a sweet taste with a good aroma and a dense structure, making them attractive to consumers. Troitskaya strawberry is widely used both for fresh consumption and for home canning due to its early bearing and storability. The fruit shape is regular, obtuse conical with a neck, which gives them an aesthetic appearance. The variety is resistant to brown and white spot, as well as to gray mold, which eases care and reduces crop losses. Thanks to its qualities and adaptation to the climatic conditions of Russia, Troitskaya is one of the most popular strawberry varieties in the country.
