Lettuce Kaftan

Dutch standards in the red lettuce segment

The 'Kaftan' lettuce variety from Enza Limited represents a specialized approach to leafy greens, blending aesthetic appeal with high agronomic reliability. Developed in the Netherlands, this variety has established a strong reputation as a consistent tool for professional growers operating in both greenhouse and open-field conditions.

Agronomic Profile and Resilience

The core value of 'Kaftan' lies in the balance between visual appeal and cultivation efficiency. The intense red color of the leaves is maintained even under temperature stress, which is critical for the shelf life and presentation of the produce in retail. Its medium maturity cycle allows for flexibility in production scheduling.

• Type: Leaf lettuce, forming a dense and well-balanced rosette.
• Resistance: The breeding focus addresses key pathogens, specifically Downy Mildew (Bremia lactucae) and Powdery Mildew, significantly reducing the need for fungicide applications.
• Adaptability: The plant exhibits excellent growth vigor, minimizing seedling loss and optimizing the vegetation period.

In the market, 'Kaftan' is valued for its predictability. For agronomists, this means fewer unpleasant surprises regarding premature bolting or loss of commercial quality due to adverse climate conditions. Enza Limited has reaffirmed its leadership by creating a product that is convenient to harvest and highly sought after by consumers for its crisp texture and vibrant, intense color.
