Lettuce Concentrus

Agronomic Guidelines for 'Concentrus' Lettuce

'Concentrus' is a high-performance lettuce variety developed by Rijk Zwaan, set for official registration in Ukraine in 2026. Achieving its full genetic potential requires strict adherence to professional cultivation practices.

Planting and Spacing

To ensure optimal leaf development and prevent overcrowding, a spacing of 25x25 cm or 30x30 cm is recommended. Proper spacing is crucial for air circulation, which significantly reduces the risk of fungal diseases. In greenhouse conditions, maintain a density of 12–15 plants per square meter to ensure uniform growth.

Soil and Irrigation Requirements

This variety thrives in well-drained, light loamy soils with a neutral pH (6.0–7.0). Soil aeration is vital, as the root system is sensitive to waterlogging. Drip irrigation is the preferred method, as it keeps foliage dry, effectively preventing tip burn and bacterial rot, which are common issues in lettuce production.

Growth Stage Management

• Seedling Stage: Maintain consistent soil moisture without saturation to encourage strong root establishment.
• Rosette Development: Apply nitrogen-based fertilizers to support rapid leaf expansion. Ensure adequate ventilation to manage humidity levels.
• Pre-harvest Phase: Cease nitrogen applications 10–14 days before harvest to enhance shelf life and maintain optimal leaf crispness.
