Lettuce Santino

Dutch breeding for the professional market

The 'Santino' variety from the Dutch company Enza Zaden is a response to the needs of modern lettuce producers who prioritize not just yield, but also cultivation efficiency. Registered in Ukraine in 2026, this variety is specifically designed for greenhouse and hydroponic systems, where product uniformity is critical.

Key Features

• Form and Structure: The 'Santino' rosette is characterized by its compactness and density, which simplifies harvesting and packaging processes. The leaves feature a vibrant color and excellent texture that maintains marketability even during long-distance transport.
• Disease Resistance: Like most Enza Zaden developments, the variety possesses comprehensive resistance to major pathogens, including modern races of downy mildew, allowing for minimized fungicide use.
• Maturity: The variety demonstrates stable growth dynamics, enabling producers to plan conveyor-belt production with predictable yields.

'Santino' is built for those targeting the premium retail segment. Its primary advantage is predictability. In hydroponic conditions, it shows a high growth rate without compromising leaf quality, making it a profitable solution for large greenhouse complexes focused on year-round supply.
