Agrotechnical Guidelines for Growing Caregon Lettuce

Caregon is a high-performance hybrid developed by Enza Zaden Beheer B.V., officially registered in Ukraine in 2026. Achieving maximum yield requires strict adherence to specific cultivation protocols tailored for this variety.

Planting and Spacing

The hybrid performs best during spring and autumn cycles. To ensure uniform rosette formation and adequate airflow, a planting density of 25x25 cm or 30x30 cm is recommended. When direct seeding, ensure a shallow depth of 0.5–1 cm to promote rapid and even germination.

Soil and Irrigation Requirements

Caregon thrives in well-drained, sandy loam soils with a pH range of 6.0–7.0. Proper water management is critical; drip irrigation is essential to prevent leaf diseases associated with overhead watering. Maintain soil moisture at 70–80% of field capacity. Avoid drastic fluctuations in moisture, as these can trigger premature bolting or physiological stress.

Developmental Care

• Seedling Stage: Maintain temperatures between +16°C and +18°C to ensure steady initial growth.
• Vegetative Stage: Apply balanced fertilization, focusing on nitrogen for leaf development and potassium as the plant matures.
• Pre-harvest Stage: Reduce irrigation 10–14 days before harvest to improve leaf density and shelf life during transport.
