Smooth brome Miraculix

Genetic Potential of 'Mirakulix' Bromegrass

The development of the 'Mirakulix' variety by Euro Grass Breeding KG reflects the precise German approach to breeding perennial grasses with superior adaptability to fluctuating weather patterns. Experts from Deutsche Saatveredelung, including Dr. Stelling and Lukas Wolters, focused on enhancing the recovery rate of Bromus inermis, a species typically characterized by slow regrowth after harvest. 'Mirakulix' is the result of rigorous selection aimed at maximizing biomass yield through optimized tiller density.

Technical Specifications for Forage Production

The primary advantage of this variety lies in its ability to maintain consistent yield on marginal and drought-prone land. Its technical profile includes:

• Deep root architecture: Facilitates moisture uptake from lower soil profiles, ensuring resilience during mid-summer dry spells.
• Accelerated regrowth kinetics: The variety exhibits high carbohydrate mobilization efficiency, allowing for quicker recovery after mechanical harvesting.
• Structural integrity: Improved resistance to lodging ensures a clean cut during mowing, minimizing machinery blockages and harvest losses.

For livestock producers, 'Mirakulix' provides a reliable source of fiber with a balanced nutritional profile. The variety's ability to maintain leaf-to-stem ratios under various stress conditions makes it an ideal component for permanent pastures and intensive forage rotations. The German genetics ensure that the nutritional value remains stable throughout the harvesting window, which is essential for maintaining consistent herd performance.
