Alfalfa «Provent» is the result of breeding work by Deutsche Saatveredelung AG, officially registered in Ukraine in 2025. The main value of this variety lies in its comprehensive biological protection. In the unstable climate of the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya regions, where pathogens and pests often negate yield potential, «Provent» demonstrates exceptional resilience.

Phytosanitary Shield

The variety possesses confirmed genetic resistance to a wide range of threats, which is critical for the longevity of the stand:

• Fungal diseases: resistance to Verticillium albo-atrum, Colletotrichum trifolii, and Phytophthora medicaginis helps prevent premature thinning of crops and loss of forage quality.
• Pests: the variety effectively resists stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) infestation, as well as aphids (Acyrthosiphon kondoi and Therioaphis maculata), preserving leafiness and the nutritional value of the biomass.

Field Performance and Adaptability

«Provent» belongs to dormancy class 4. This is the «golden mean» for Ukrainian agro-climatic zones: the plant regrows quite actively in spring while maintaining the necessary endurance for successful overwintering. Throughout the season, the variety shows stable growth dynamics after each cut. The average stem height at full bloom provides an optimal balance between green mass volume and ease of mechanized harvesting.

Visually, «Provent» fields are easily recognizable: plants with dark blue-violet flowers predominate. The intermediate habit in the first year of life promotes rapid row closure, suppressing weed development at early stages.
