Smooth brome Livista

Engineering Approach to 'Livista' Breeding

'Livista' is the result of long-term genetic work by a consortium of German breeders under the umbrella of Euro Grass Breeding KG. Unlike forage varieties focused on biomass production, this selection focuses on plant habit stability and aesthetic qualities. The application of German breeding technologies ensures the compactness required for controlled cultivation environments.

Agrotechnical Features

The key differentiator of this hybrid is the specific architecture of its root system and aerial parts. The R&D carried out by Deutsche Saatveredelung was aimed at minimizing stress within limited substrate volumes. Important characteristics for the professional segment include:

• Controlled growth rate: Optimized for container gardening to prevent rapid overgrowth in pots.
• Stress resistance: High adaptability to artificial irrigation and moisture fluctuations in potted conditions.
• Decorative stability: Maintains foliage shape and color throughout the entire growing season.

Technically, 'Livista' is a specialized tool for landscape designers. By utilizing genetic material from originators such as Schumann Cord and Busch Heinrich, the breeders ensure predictability in every seed batch, which is essential for maintaining uniformity in landscaped areas.
