Smooth brome Olivia

Practical insights on growing Olivia brome grass

When selecting seed material for fodder production or land improvement, Euro Grass Breeding KG offers a stable solution with the Olivia variety. This German brome grass variety appeals to those who prioritize salad-type usage, where both biomass and vegetative quality are crucial.

Development and Agronomic Notes

When working with this variety, farmers note a moderate plant height—between 30–50 cm. This range is optimal for harvesting tender greens that do not become coarse before active mowing. Unlike taller, coarser varieties, Olivia demonstrates high stand density. With proper irrigation and moderate nitrogen application, the grass shows excellent regeneration after cutting.

• Operation: The variety is responsive to intensive cultivation technologies. By maintaining soil moisture, you can achieve several full cuts per season.
• Maintenance: The crop does not require specialized equipment for care. A standard rotary mower handles the 30-50 cm height perfectly without putting excessive stress on the machinery.
• Stand resilience: Olivia survives the winter well, minimizing the need for spring overseeding. The variety fills gaps effectively, suppressing weeds through its dense turf.

The seeding rate is standard for brome grass, but thanks to the high germination rates traditionally provided by Euro Grass Breeding KG, it is possible to optimize seeding density without losing yield. For those who value the reliability of German breeding and are looking for material for salad-type applications with moderate growth rates, this variety will be a dependable asset for your operation.
