Smooth brome Pernille

Vertical Architecture: Why Pernille is the Landscape Standard

In the segment of perennial grasses for landscaping, the selection choice from DLF is driven by a genetic emphasis on vertical plant architecture. The Brome grass variety «Pernille» is a crop where every node of the stem is programmed for intensive vertical growth. Reaching heights of up to 250 cm, this variety excels at rapidly forming a dense, visually dominant green screen.

Technical Potential of the Variety

• Vertical Genetics: Unlike ground-cover grasses, the structure of «Pernille» is defined by a prevalence of generative shoots with high foliage density. This minimizes gaps in the planting, ensuring a seamless «green wall» effect.
• Climate Adaptability: Danish breeding expertise ensures high resistance to temperature fluctuations and excess moisture, making the variety reliable across various environments.
• Biological Resilience: A robust root system effectively anchors the soil, preventing erosion on slopes—a critical factor for vertical landscaping and structural terrain design.

The practical value of «Pernille» lies in its predictable growth pattern. Reaching a peak of 2.5 meters, the variety maintains its vertical alignment even under wind stress, effectively eliminating the need for complex support systems. This makes it an optimal solution for creating natural barriers, separating functional zones, and masking technical landscape elements. The inherent rigidity of the stem's cellular structure ensures stability, reducing the reliance on artificial support frameworks in high-performance landscaping projects.
