Smooth brome Coral

Agrobiological Potential of Brome Grass "Koral"

The breeding program of Innoseed b.v. (Netherlands) in the perennial forage grass segment focuses on creating resilient swards capable of maintaining productivity for 5–7 years. The "Koral" variety represents a technological solution for establishing long-term pastures and hayfields with high utilization intensity.

Phytopathological Resistance as a Basis for Profitability

The key advantage of this variety is the comprehensive immunity integrated at the genetic level. Under high-humidity conditions where the risk of mycoses is maximized, "Koral" demonstrates high resistance to:

• Sclerotinia (white mold);
• Peronospora (downy mildew);
• Phomopsis and Phoma, which affect the stem and reduce the nutritional value of the biomass.

Eliminating the need for fungicide applications on brome grass stands allows for the production of environmentally friendly green mass suitable for all types of livestock farming.

Agrotechnological Features

The multi-year lifespan (5–7 years) makes this variety economically efficient for long-term feed base planning. The robust root system of "Koral" ensures the efficient use of moisture from deep soil horizons, which is critical for stabilizing yields during dry periods. Intense tillering ensures a dense turf cover, preventing soil erosion and suppressing weed development within the stand. The variety is adapted for mechanized harvesting and rapid regrowth after mowing.
