Tartarian fescue (Bromopsis × taurica) is a grass belonging to the Poaceae family. It is a terrestrial plant with characteristic lanceolate-linear leaf shapes and smooth edges. The fruits are yellow dry caryopses, and the inflorescences are arranged in spikes where the flowers are located in an inconspicuous perianth.
The plant is widely distributed in the Crimean region, particularly in the Bakhchisarai district and on the southern coast of Koktebel. Due to its resilience to harsh climatic conditions, crystal Crimea fescue is often used in botanical research and ecological descriptions of grasses.
Systematically, this species includes several synonyms: Bromopsis glabrata, Bromopsis riparia ssp. fibrosa, Bromus fibrosus, Zerna fibrosa, and Zerna riparia ssp. fibrosa. It is included in reviews of the genera DESCHAMPSIA, AGROSTIS, CALAMAGROSTIS, and the grass system of the flora of Russia, confirming its importance for scientific research and agricultural monitoring.
Tartarian fescue is valued for its adaptability and resilience, as well as its potential for use as fodder material and in greening restoration projects. Due to its ease of cultivation and low soil requirements, it can become a useful element of the agro-landscape in regions with limited resources.
