Smooth brome Selyanochka

Reliable forage base by Agro-Firma Sumy-Nasinnya

The awnless brome grass variety 'Selyanochka' is a selection choice for those seeking a balance between low maintenance and stable green mass productivity. In the Ukrainian agricultural sector, this variety has proven itself as one of the most resilient tools for establishing long-term hayfields and pastures.

Key advantages of the variety

• High adaptability: 'Selyanochka' shows remarkable resistance to sudden temperature fluctuations and moisture deficiency, which is crucial in regions with unstable weather patterns.
• Regrowth intensity: After mowing or grazing, the stand recovers faster than many competing varieties, ensuring the possibility of harvesting multiple full cuts per season.
• Forage value: The protein profile of this variety is well-balanced, allowing for the production of high-quality silage and hay that is readily consumed by all types of livestock.

Regarding potential drawbacks, 'Selyanochka', like any brome grass, requires patience during its first year. Its early development is slower than that of ryegrass, so it is vital to ensure proper soil preparation and minimize weed competition during the seedling phase. However, once established, the variety becomes a long-lasting foundation for your field, capable of performing productively in the same spot for up to 7–10 years.

This variety is optimal for farms focused on long-term forage planning. It is forgiving of management errors in the grazing cycle and works excellently for creating grass mixtures with legumes (such as alfalfa), where brome grass serves as a reliable structural component.
