Chaenomeles IVANUSHKA

Practical Application in Modern Orchards

Chaenomeles 'Ivanushka' is a distinguished variety developed by the I.V. Michurin Federal Scientific Center, specifically engineered for versatility in garden and small-farm settings. It serves a dual purpose: acting as a highly aesthetic ornamental shrub during its flowering season, and as a productive source of high-quality fruit.

Technical Specifications and Planting Scenarios

Reaching heights between 1.0 and 2.0 meters, this variety provides substantial landscape utility. Its height makes it an excellent candidate for functional "living fences" that provide both privacy and harvestable yields.

• Landscape Integration: Given its size, the shrub is well-suited for zonal separation in orchards, requiring minimal pruning to maintain an attractive, dense form.
• Harvest Utility: The yellow-green fruits are prized for their balanced sweet-and-sour profile. Unlike many other Chaenomeles varieties that require extensive processing, 'Ivanushka' is specifically suited for fresh consumption.
• Cultural Requirements: For optimal performance, prioritize planting in well-drained, sun-exposed areas. The variety is robust and well-adapted to typical regional climates, ensuring steady annual production.

For growers looking to maximize utility per square meter, 'Ivanushka' offers a perfect intersection of visual appeal and profitability. Its ease of maintenance, combined with its distinct culinary value, makes it a reliable asset for diversified horticultural operations.
