Alyur – a decorative shrub from the rose family, known as Japanese quince or chaenomeles. It reaches a height of 50 to 80 cm and has a semi-spreading form with arched branches, making it ideal for small gardens, flower beds, and landscape design compositions.
The shrub stands out with its bright and prolonged flowering: inflorescences appear in late April – early May and last almost a month. Flowers are simple, star-shaped with a diameter of about 4 cm, colored in white, red, orange, or pink shades, with a moderate aroma. In the first year after planting, usually 2–3 inflorescences are formed, and by the third year – up to 20 pieces, ensuring a rich decorative effect.
Alyur fruits are yellow-green and edible, resembling pineapple in taste. Although they are somewhat sour, they can be used in desserts, compotes, or as a fresh fruit garnish. The shrub is resistant to unfavorable weather conditions: frost-hardy, drought-resistant, heat- and winter-hardy, and also resistant to diseases and pests. Thanks to these properties, Alyur easily fits into any garden ensemble, adding brightness and aromatic accent.
