Gefest

Chenomeles 'Gefest' is a dwarf Japanese shrub up to one meter in height, thornless with a dense crown of arcuate branches. It has a fibrous and superficial root system, making it convenient for planting in limited spaces of a garden or vegetable plot.

Flowering starts at the end of April – beginning of May, when the bush still has no leaves. The flowers are large, orange-cream, about four centimeters in diameter, and arranged chaotically: singly or in small clusters of two to six. For almost a month, the bush delights with bright, festive blooms, creating a picturesque view even before the foliage appears.

'Gefest' fruits are yellow-green, 3 to 5 centimeters in diameter, with a smooth or slightly ribbed surface. They are sour and firm, making them less suitable for direct consumption but valuable in cooking: they can be used in compotes, jams, sauces, and desserts. The yield can reach up to nine kilograms from one bush, and the fruit mass ranges from twenty to one hundred thirty grams.
