The "Voskhod" shrub is a variety of Japanese quince (Chaenomeles) characterized by a compact shape and a height of up to 1 meter or more. It features inclined, arching branches bearing densely foliated leaves of a rich dark green color, glossy and slightly lacquered. The shrub can be either low (from 50 cm) or high (up to 250 cm) – the choice depends on the specific variety and landscape design goals.
The flowering of "Voskhod" begins at the end of April to early May and lasts almost a month. The flowers are small, delicate, bright orange, and arranged chaotically – either singly or in clusters of 2–6 pieces. Thanks to the rich shade and prolonged flowering period, the shrub attracts attention as a decorative element of the garden.
The fruits of this variety resemble a combination of lime and lemon, have a yellow-green color, and are edible. The taste of the fruits is compared to pineapple – sweet and sour, pleasant for gourmets. The fruiting part grows after flowering, when leaves already appear on the branches.
"Voskhod" prefers sunny places or partial shade and grows in loose, fertile soil. Watering is moderate – just maintain moisture without water stagnation. The shrub may have a small number of thorns up to 2 cm, but most plants do not have them.
Thus, Japanese quince "Voskhod" combines decorative flowering with useful fruits, is easy to grow in a temperate climate, and is suitable both for garden compositions and for vegetable beds.
