Pomegranate Magarach is an early technical grape variety intended for the production of eco-friendly table and dessert red wines. The bushes are weak to medium growing, with medium-sized clusters weighing between 180 and 250 grams. The berries are black, of medium size, weighing 2-4 grams, with a characteristic nightshade aftertaste and colored juice. The taste is harmonious and varietal, giving the wines special expressiveness and richness.
The variety is characterized by high berry sugar content — from 22 to 28%, and acidity at 8-9 g/l, ensuring good quality of winemaking material. The fruiting coefficient is about 1.4, and yield reaches up to 140 centners per hectare. For optimal fruiting, pruning the vines to 7-9 buds is recommended. Pomegranate Magarach has high winter hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to -25°C.
A feature of the variety is its genetic resistance to fungal diseases, including phylloxera, which significantly reduces the need for chemical protection. However, preventive treatments are recommended against oidium. The variety was bred and patented by the NIIVV «Magarach» and has been recommended for industrial cultivation since 2008. Thanks to its characteristics, Pomegranate Magarach is a valuable variety for winemaking, ensuring stable yields and high product quality.
