Grape Prestige

Biological Potential and Breeding Value

The "Prestige" grape variety, developed by the Federal Rostov Agricultural Research Center, is a benchmark for modern table varieties, focusing on superior commercial qualities. A key feature of this hybrid is the high vigor of the vine, which allows it to form a robust framework capable of supporting a significant yield. The vine's high vegetative activity ensures high-quality nutrition for the clusters, even under heavy loads.

Agrotechnical Indicators and Morphology

• Flower Type: Perfect (hermaphroditic), which guarantees stable pollination and prevents berry shriveling (pea-berrying) even under unstable weather conditions during blooming.
• Clusters and Berries: Cluster weight ranges from 500 to 800 grams, with berries showing impressive sizes exceeding 8 grams. This density and large berry size make the variety highly sought after for the fresh market.
• Ripening Period: The early ripening cycle helps avoid risks associated with late autumn rains and early frosts, which is critical for southern cultivation regions.

Operational Characteristics

Technically, "Prestige" exhibits moderate frost resistance (down to -21°C). This creates specific requirements for training and management: in climatic zones where temperatures may drop below critical levels, covering the vine is necessary. The bright pink color of the berries and the fruity flavor profile result from breeders' efforts to enhance organoleptic qualities, which directly impact the market value of the crop. High yields, when paired with proper agricultural practices, make this hybrid an economically sound choice for both private and commercial vineyards.
