Dunavski Lazar is a technical grape variety developed in Bulgaria and adapted for cultivation in various regions, including the North Caucasus. This variety is characterized by a late maturity period and vigorous vine growth with hermaphroditic flowers. The leaves are medium-sized, rounded, five-lobed, and weakly to moderately dissected. Bunches are medium to large in size, cylindro-conical in shape, with moderate density, weighing between 150 and 318 grams. Berries are oval, green with dark speckles, have a sugar content of up to 22.4% and an acidity of about 7–7.8 g/l. The variety shows high resistance to major grape diseases such as mildew, grey rot, as well as to phylloxera and frosts. Thanks to these qualities, Dunavski Lazar demonstrates stable and high yields, averaging about 8.6 t/ha, but reaching up to 23.3 t/ha under favorable conditions. The percentage of fruiting shoots reaches 90%, and the fruiting coefficient varies from 0.8 to 1.0. Pruning to 6–8 buds is recommended for optimal development and fruiting. The main application of the variety is the production of high-quality dry table wines. Must from Dunavski Lazar berries shows good resistance to oxidation, which positively affects the taste qualities of the final product. The tasting score of wine made from this variety reaches 8.8 points, confirming its value for winemaking. Thus, Dunavski Lazar is a reliable and promising variety for viticulturists focused on producing quality wine with good resistance to unfavorable conditions.
