Description Odessa Early
Odessa Early is an early-mid season wine grape variety developed by Ukrainian breeders through crossing the Amur muscat variety 'Early Blue' and the European 'Pierrel'. The vegetative period lasts 130-140 days, corresponding to the end of September. The vines of this variety exhibit high growth vigor, allowing one cane to form 2-3 clusters, with a yield per bush of 4-6 kilograms. The clusters have a cylindrical-conical shape of medium density, often with wings, weighing 130-190 grams. The berries are round, medium-sized (about 14.2 x 13 mm), with thin but tough skins, colored yellow-green, turning amber upon full ripening. The flesh is slightly mucilaginous, with a harmonious flavor and distinct muscat aroma. The sugar content varies from 18.6% to 22%, acidity from 5.5 to 8.7 g/l.

The variety has good cold resistance, tolerating temperatures down to -24…-25°C, making it suitable for cultivation in regions with cold winters. Disease resistance is moderate: mildew rated at 2.5 points, oidium at 2 points. For successful cultivation, choose fertile loamy soils and ensure adequate application of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, as well as organic feedings before planting. The vines respond well to proper care and pruning, with a recommended bud load of 30-35 buds per bush.

Odessa Early grape is widely used for producing dessert and table wines, as well as for making high-quality juices. Additionally, due to its large, juicy berries with muscat aroma, this variety is suitable for fresh consumption. Its harmonious flavor and aroma make it appealing to both winemakers and fresh berry enthusiasts.
